Ecological urbanism

With the aim of designing alternative and sustainable forms of urban planning, this book asks: What are the main criteria for ecological urban planning? How would you organize them? And what role do design and planning play in this process? While much attention has been paid to climate change, sustainable architecture and green technologies, approaches to ecological urban planning have so far been less widespread. The publication is based on the conviction that an ecological approach is urgently needed to improve the current situation and to develop principles of order for future urban design. Design can serve as a link between ecology and urban planning that does not conflict with its environment. The book brings together designers, economists, engineers, artists, policy makers, environmental researchers and healthcare professionals to develop a more profound understanding of green urban planning.
