Summary: Ludwing Mies Van Der Rohe was born in Aachen, Germany in 1886. His father was a mason and owned a small stonecutting shop where as a younf boy mies learned the elements of masonry construction. After the First World War, mies, supporting avant-garde art movements and publications, emerged as a strongly original architect. Some of his most daring projects, the glass sky-scrapers among them, date from this period in the early 1920’s. His Seagram building is one of the finest examples of a skyscraper in New York or anywhere else. This book also includes architect’s work, drawing, Bibliographies and illustration
